If you wish to enroll your child in one of our Pitchoun’ childcare centers in Bordeaux, regardless of the desired type of care (regular or occasional), you only need to complete one pre-registration process. This should be done through the Bordeaux City Hall. There is a single waiting list for all registrations in childcare centers in Bordeaux.
To be eligible for a spot in one of our five centers located in Bordeaux, you must either be a resident of the city or pay a professional tax in Bordeaux (e.g., as a merchant or self-employed individual).
You should begin the pre-registration process during the 4th month of pregnancy or upon receiving a decision regarding guardianship for adoption. Contact the Petite Enfance Service (Early Childhood Service) at the Bordeaux City Hall, known as the MAPE (Modes d’Accueil Petite Enfance) service.
The MAPE service offers in-person appointments at various locations throughout the city, with or without prior scheduling. You can find all contact details on the Bordeaux City Hall website
here.Telephone pre-registration appointments are also available. You can request a callback by using the “Contact Us” form on the Bordeaux City Hall website or by calling the MAPE service at 05.56.42.24.43.
At any time to request information, you can contact our establishments, our head office or the MAPE service of the City of Bordeaux.
For the pre-registration appointment, bring one of the following pregnancy documents :
> Ultrasound report
> Personalized follow-up calendar from CPAM (French health insurance)
> Pregnancy certificate
During the appointment, a childcare professional or specialized administrative agent will guide you through the different childcare options. They will assist you in completing your application, and you can choose up to three centers from the list provided by the Petite Enfance service (including municipal, associative, or privately managed daycare centers).
Each family receives points based on specific criteria. The number of points varies depending on family circumstances (e.g., having another child already enrolled, multiple births, young or minor parents) and professional situations (e.g., atypical working hours, both parents working, student status, vocational training, or professional integration).
Applications are then reviewed anonymously by allocation committees.
Your request is then studied in commissions based on the date of your pre-registration. These committees meet in March and June. Spots are allocated in March and June for the September intake. The committees are chaired by the selected official responsible for Early Childhood.
Places are assigned in descending order of scores obtained.
You will receive a response within 8 business days after the committee meeting. If your child does not secure a spot in the first March committee, the application will remain on the waiting list and be reconsidered during the second June committee. If it was not possible to satisfy your request, you will receive a letter two months before the desired daycare entry date.
